The visual and performing arts program is an important part of the West Ranch High School experience. The University of California System entrance requirements now include a full year course of study in the visual or performing arts
Classes in the visual and performing arts provide students the opportunity to explore an area of interest, discover or develop a talent, or acquire an appreciation for human achievement. The Arts promote new ways of thinking, working, communicating, reasoning, and investigating. Students understand the relationships among art forms and between their own work and that of others. They are able to relate their understanding of the historical and cultural contexts of art and music to situations in contemporary life.
Visual and performing arts provide students with new techniques and approaches for applying knowledge and skills to the world beyond school. There is a direct correlation between the study and appreciation of music and art and academic achievement.
