Our Recent Visitors

Dave Loeb is not only Director of Jazz Studies at UNLV, but also a professional piano player who plays on many television show and movie scores as well as with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. He likes to visit our band as a way of recruiting students for UNLV, but he also brings another professional eye to what we are doing.

As part of the outreach program from the Hollywood-based Musicians' Institute, Director of Admissions, Gary Solt, like to visit and work with some of the more advanced jazz bands in the greater Los Angeles area. After working with our band again this year, he asked if he could come back in the spring. He is also formerly director of big bands at the Berklee school in Boston, and we will welcome him back whenever he can come.

Multi grammy award winner, Gordon Goodwin visited WRHS to work with the Studio A Jazz band on the chart the he wrote especially for us. He not only helped the kids to play better on that chart and to play better in general, but also motivated them to understand the value of music in their lives and in society. Thanks Gordon!

Since we are working on the famous Don Menza composition "Time Check," which he wrote for the Buddy Rich Band, Don was nice enough to come out to work with the band. He is absolutely AMAZING!
