Soap Opera Example: CHARLIE VS. THE HAWK

Antarctica: cold, windy.  A big colony of penguins consisting of little penguin families.

Suddenly Rocko Macaroni excitedly waddles up to his family’s snow patch, searches frantically over the penguin colony, demands:

ROCKO MACARONI

                   Where’s our son Charlie, Suzy?

SUZY MACARONI

                   Charlie?  He’s not with you?!

ROCKO MACARONI

Whatta ya mean “with me?”  If you weren’t always

flirting with Max--!

SUZY MACARONI

Keep Max outta this, Rocko!

(Slaps hand to mouth)

Great icebergs!  The hawk!  The hawk!

ROCKO MACARONI

(Staggered)

Hawk?  There was a hawk around here?!  In addition to the shark?!

SUZY MACARONI

(Fainting)

Charlie!  My baby Charlie!  My baaaa….

Rocko grabs Suzy, cradles her in his arms, begins to cry uncontrollably.

Just then Sheriff Murry waddles up with a fistful of blood-stained baby down.

SHERIFF MURRY

Rocko, Suzy!  I found these tuffs of “penguin down”

over at the melt hole.  I swear, they look like Charlie’s.
