Borrowing Information & Late Fees

Borrowing Information

All WR students must use their student IDs to check out materials.

The West Ranch Library conforms to California law regarding the confidentiality of library patron records. This means that without written permission from the cardholder, library staff cannot share any information about the record with any other person. Please speak to the library staff for more information.

Loan Periods and Renewals

Textbooks: No late fee if returned at the end of the school year

Class Novels (the teacher requires the whole class to read the same novel): No late fees if returned by the end of the quarter in which the book was read.

Library Books: 15 school days; renewals unlimited (If another patron has placed a hold on the novel, the renewal is maxed at 3)

*You can have 5 library books on your student account at one time.

How to Renew an Item

You can renew your items by bringing them to the library and having library staff scan and stamp the book. A renewal needs to occur before day 15 to avoid late fees.

Fee Schedule

Outstanding library fees can be paid online through the ASB Webstore. To pay fees for overdue library materials, purchased supplies, or printing use the "Library Book Delinquency" category in the ASB Webstore. Enter the dollar amount and the student's name. Patrons and parents of patrons are made aware of late fees through email communication and paper slips delivered to students once a month.

Overdue fines:
$0.15 per school day for overdue library books
$10.00 maximum per item

Lost Items:
The replacement cost of the item OR bring a replacement copy (must have the same ISBN and be in great condition- no writing, ripped pages, water damage, etc.)

Why Do We Charge Late Fees and Printing Fees?

We encourage students to be responsible and accountable for their actions. If a student chooses to borrow a book, we encourage the student to actively take note of the due date and make a plan to renew or return the book on time. ALL paid fees are used to increase and maintain the library's collection so that all students have access to books and resources.
