Budget Challenge ends next Thursday. Check your to see what needs to get done before then. There will be a final Budget Challenge TEST next Thursday. Practice questions are available in Juno. I will be grading Cash Flow Spreadsheets next Thursday so those need to be complete and accurate as well.
 
Students spent the class period working on a group project that asked them to find examples of the business firms we have researched here in Santa Clarita. Groups will have 30 minutes to finish this project on Tuesday. If you were absent, I have shared the alternative assignment listed below to your school email address. You will need to complete the research on your own since your group did most of the work for the project without you here.

    • Activity - students created a group Google Doc that shared the research they found on the impact teens have on the economy
    • Activity - students added another page to their Google Doc where they chose a product and listed the factors of production necessary to produce their product
  3. Peer Edit Resume and Cover Letter - I printed each person’s cover letter and resume. Students are now required to have a peer and an adult (preferably a parent) edit their documents using the assessment form provided. They are then to use those comments to make changes and re-submit their resumes and cover letters for final assessment.

  1. Peer Edit Practice Job Application - Students gave their computer to a peer who used the peer editing form at the bottom to give two comments to GLOW and two comments to GROW.
  2. Analysis of sample resumes and cover letters
    • Each group got four samples.
    • They used the analysis form and checklists provided to reflect on the pros and cons of each sample (completed in Google Classroom if you were absent - samples are attached below)
  3. Find a Job
    • Before students created their own resumes and cover letters they searched for an actual job they would want to apply for. The cover letter should be personal and reflect research about the company you want to work for. (scvjobs.com, snagajob,com)

    • Template was assigned in Google Classroom but students can create their own or modify one made in a previous class.
