The Los Angeles County Academic Decathlon is a colorful, rigorous two-day scholastic team competition that tests the knowledge and skills of high school students who compete against other school teams for gold, silver and bronze medals. Decathletes are challenged to use analytical skills, performance abilities and test-taking and writing aptitude in 10 events.
Here at West Ranch High School, we work together as a team, divided into three groups, Honors, Scholastic, and Varsity, throughout the year to prepare for this mind-boggling event. The curriculum-math, music, science, economics, language and literature, social science, art, essay, interview, and speech-centers on a certain theme.
Throughout it all, you'll share fun, close quarters experiences with an interesting group of people. This first period seminar, meeting in Room 308, will expand your mind, sharpen your wits, and introduce you to friends you'll keep close with for years to come. From all of us here on the Academic Decathlon team, we would like to welcome you to this truly unforgettable class.
