Course Description
Welcome to Basic Modern Civilizations. In this course, we will study the foundation and formation of modern civilization. In our analysis of history, we will discuss the origin and development of various social, political, and economic systems people have implemented over the years, as a way of organizing society. We will also address the many challenges these societies have faced.
It can be said that our present society and civilization is the sum total of the entire
human experience. Thus, in order to determine “why things are the way they are
today,” we must first look back over the centuries and study the roots of our world
as we know it. Furthermore, by understanding and learning from the past, we
stand a greater chance of succeeding in the future.
